Pre-development Assessment & Analysis
Pacific Edison provides a full range of pre-development solar consulting services, including:
Utility Bill Assessment: We will evaluate your current and historical utility bills, energy usage patterns, peak and off-peak electricity usage, and utility tariff rates.
Site Assessment: We will evaluate your premises to assess which locations on your property may be suitable to host solar arrays. We include a full evaluation of rooftops, surface and multi-level parking areas and any available adjacent undeveloped land to determine suitability for hosting solar systems.
Review of Subsidies & Financial Incentives: The economic viability and attractiveness of solar projects is heavily influenced by financial incentives and regulatory structures available. These incentives vary drastically across different geographic regions and require a deep understanding of current and rapidly evolving federal, state, and local financial incentives, regulatory structures, and policy mandates.
Pacific Edison will guide you through the maze of renewable energy incentives and policy tools available for your solar project. We will quantify the value of the financial incentives and determine the process necessary for you to take advantage of those incentives and policy tools.
Solar Opportunity Analysis: Based on our Utility Bill Assessment, Site Assessment, and Review of Subsidies and Financial Incentives, we will put together a solar opportunity analysis (“SOA”) on your behalf. The SOA will provide you with an overall solar development plan and roadmap and may include preliminary system design layouts by solar product type, solar array schematics, total solar system capacity, expected annual solar electricity production, estimated engineering, procurement, and construction costs, project financing options, and financial savings and return on investment analysis.
Project Finance
Once the solar development plan is in place, Pacific Edison will help you secure financing for your project. We will provide you with detailed information about the benefits and risks associated with your various options, including buying solar electricity under a power purchase agreement (PPA) or making a capital purchase of the solar equipment.
PPAs:
For tax-exempt entities, such as schools, non-profits, and municipally-owned sports venues, as well as property owners that want to avoid the upfront costs associated with a capital purchase, a solar PPA may be an appropriate financing method for you. Pacific Edison can secure third party tax equity and debt financing commitments on your behalf. We maintain relationships with an array of project finance firms with hundreds of millions of dollars of committed capital available to finance solar projects. If you prefer to select your project finance partner through an RFP or competitive bidding process, then Pacific Edison can manage that competitive bidding process on your behalf.
Capital Purchase:
For property owners who prefer to own the solar assets mounted on their property, a capital purchase of the solar system may be the right choice for you. Pacific Edison can help you structure, negotiate and secure a loan or equipment lease to finance the purchase. We will obtain bids from multiple banks and equipment leasing firms, from which you can choose the financial partner and package that best suits your needs.
Solar System Design & Installation
Pacific Edison will assist you in selecting the solar system design, engineering, procurement, construction, and installation partners (“EPC Contractors”), or we can create and manage an RFP or competitive bidding process to help you choose the EPC Contractors. Once selected, the EPC Contractors will be responsible handling the permitting, building code compliance, regulatory approvals and municipal consents. Throughout the EPC process, Pacific Edison will act as the primary point of contact for all outside solar vendor interactions with the client.
System Interconnection, Monitoring & Maintenance
Upon completion of the installation process, Pacific Edison will ensure that the EPC Contractors obtain necessary approval from the utility to interconnect the solar system to the utility grid. If you enter into a PPA, ongoing operations and maintenance will be handled by the third party owner of the solar system. If you decide to purchase the solar system outright, then we will facilitate an operations and maintenance agreement between you and the EPC Contractor. We will ensure that the solar system includes real-time 24-hour web based monitoring.
Products: Rooftop Solar Arrays
Large rooftops with unobstructed access to sunlight are great candidates to host solar arrays.
Solar: How It Works
Did you know with net metering you can sell excess electricity back to the power company? Solar pays.
